300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training - Coming in May, 2010

My personal objective for the Awaken Yoga School was to offer the student a well-rounded background to help inspire their personal practice and teaching skills. I felt it was so important to keep the tradition of yoga alive so we all know the roots of where this practice evolved and to keep passing on those roots while maintaining the ability to teach in the modern day classroom and reach any level of practitioner. Much love to you on your journey - Awaken Jennifer

Programs

What is Awaken Yogic Studies (AYS)?

AYS is a 150 hour program, suitable for those who may not desire to be teachers, but wish to deepen their understanding of the Tradition of Yoga. This course covers the history, philosophy and psychology of Yoga, energy anatomy and chakras, asana development and alignment, anatomy and physiology, meditation, mantra, pranayama and Sanskrit terminology. Coursework includes reading assignments, take-home quizzes, and short essays that demonstrate understanding. A yogic studies certificate is given upon successful completion of the program.

What is Awaken Yoga Teacher Training (ATT)?

ATT is a 300 hour course, registered with Yoga Alliance. Once ATT students successfully complete the 150 AYS hours they may immediately begin an additional 150 hours specific to the teaching of yoga. ATT includes teaching methodology of asana, safety and alignment, pranayama, meditation, and Sanskrit pronunciation. Ample time is provided for practice-teaching sessions with emphasis on voice, timing, ethics, and other topics. Students are given a variety of assignments, projects, practicum hours (student teaching), and outside classroom experience. Graduation requirements include submission of acceptable homework and project assignments as well as a passing grade in the final exam (written and practical). Upon successful completion, an Awaken Yoga Teacher Training certificate is given. Our graduates are Certified Yoga Teachers (CYT) with Awaken Yoga Teacher Training, and are qualified to apply for registration with Yoga Alliance (RYT).
