I enjoyed the Surya Namaskara weekend. The first week went well with practicing 10 rounds each day. I divided them, five in the morning and five in the evening. Towards the end of the week I found myself practicing all 10 at once in the morning. Some mornings I really did not want to practice Surya Namaskara, but I made myself, because I knew I would feel better afterwards. The last day of the first week I started to practice, but started getting very itchy and developed hives. I ended up in the hospital that night, due to an allergic reaction to something I ate that had gluten.
The first morning of the second week, I felt very foggy, due to the anti-histamine I took at home and the hospital gave me the night before. I was extremely tired, but made myself practice Surya Namaskara. It definitely made me feel better. I also started to bring my practice outside and really liked it even better. I faced the sunrise and got more out of the practice. I also realized that a morning practice was much more beneficial for me. I found myself wanting to do more repetitions than 15 towards the end of the week.
The first morning of the third week I had really bad back pain. Just when I was starting to really enjoy Surya Namaskara, I did not want to practice that morning, but made myself. I found by the third repetition, my back pain disappeared. I was so happy, I couldn’t believe the pain went away so fast. My practice went a lot quicker by the third week. I felt more confident and enjoyed the practice. I felt so much more energetic. I was able to accomplish more in the day. The best part of Surya Namaskara is it’s so portable, you can practice wherever and whenever you want!
